Sterling Lakonia is rich with symbolism and meaning. Lakonia is a region in southern Greece best known for its capital city, Sparta. Thousands of years ago, the Greek peoples were divided into different independent city-states, two of which vied for supremacy of the region: Athens and Lakonia. While the Athenians were the masters of the seas, the Lakonians were masters of the land. Lakonia would ultimately defeat Athens in the Peloponnesian War. Both founders of Sterling Lakonia, Neil and Sam, grew up in the Midwest which instilled in them a passion and appreciation for land; the name Sterling Lakonia is a nod to our agrarian roots.

Originally from Iowa, Sam moved to Colorado Springs for school and graduated from the United States Air Force Academy where he studied humanities. As an active duty Space Force officer, Sam knows what it means to serve and brings that spirit to Sterling Lakonia, which he co-founded to help landowners find solutions for their unused property. His work has taken him across the globe where he has established relationships with professionals from a variety of backgrounds, both in the government and private sector. He has over 10 years of experience in the investment field and has been featured on CNBC. Sam spends his leisure drinking whisky with friends, working out, and reading philosophy; his favorite authors include Plato, Dostoevsky, Shakespeare, and Graham.
Neil is a native of Indiana where he studied decision sciences at Indiana University School of Business. He went on to earn his MD at Indiana Medical School. Neil lived in Saudi Arabia for a decade working as a psychiatrist for Aramco where he gained an unparalleled breadth of knowledge and experience, along with invaluable global connections. His passion for helping others shines through in all aspects of his professional and personal life, which was his main motivation for founding Sterling Lakonia. While not helping patients, Neil voraciously pursues the true, the good, and the beautiful, whether it be through studying philosophy, social science, or biology. He also enjoys Scotch whisky and sharing his knowledge of the dram with his friends and community.
